A fellow Chi town gal! (Although I now live in the Pacific Northwest and lived in Colorado more than half my life.) I’ll always love Chicago. The places, the architecture, the art, my forever friends…the food!…Sometimes I sorely miss it. Since my mother passed in 2018, there’s no reason to go back, I suppose…maybe some day, with a partner. To revisit. Your bicycle essay (and I never before heard of the tiny memoir, so cool!…) reminded me of learning how to ride, with my unsupportive brother. So sorry that your bike was taken. And yes, that ending felt painful. Glad you are writing about it…;)

Thanks so much! I’ve lived in a few other places, but I keep coming back to Chicago!

A cliffhanger

I wanna know what happens next

And did she ever report the chair could touch to where he shouldn’t have? Or did she have to bury a deep like so many of us?

Beautiful tiny story thank you
