This is a very moving piece about the weight of not knowing, and later putting together the pieces of one's origin. There is a persistent drag on our conscious awareness, fearing that our parents were not our original ones and our longing to believe the changing stories they tell us through the years. There is always that step not taken, towards truth and serenity.

Have you thought about writing a Tiny Memoir/little book? a collection ?

I haven't thought of it quite like that, but that's a great idea. I am about 30,000 words into my memoir. For this piece, I used a portion of a chapter and reworded it to submit to Tiny Memoir. But the idea of short chapters as tiny memoirs is very intriguing.
